Nike Houston Texans 30 Kevin Johnson Elite Alternate Battle Red Jersey

A wide receiver with the Spartans, Kevin Johnson started for three years in East Lansing. As a senior in 2014, he averaged 19 yards per catch. The Texans definitely took interest in Mumphery in the runup to the Draft, and then on Saturday afternoon when he was picked 175th overall.

When Kevin Johnson Jersey got the call from the Texans, he wasn’t surprised.“I felt like I got the most interest from the Texans, but I didn’t know what to expect,” the 5th-round selection out of Michigan State said via a Saturday conference call. “I was just sitting back, embracing the moment with my family.”

Throughout this offseason, head coach Bill O’Brien has said the Texans needed to improve team Men’s Nike Houston Texans 30 Kevin Johnson Elite Alternate Battle Red Jersey speed and get better on special teams coverage. Mumphery emphasized, twice, that he’s willing and able to contribute in that area.

“I can play every special teams, I can play every Men’s Nike Houston Texans 30 Kevin Johnson Elite Navy Blue Team Color NFL Jersey special teams,” he said. Mumphery grew up in the Atlanta area, and is currently pursuing a masters degree in communications.

Throughout the process, I felt like they were more interested because they were the only team that actually worked me out,” Mumphery said. “I worked out at Michigan State. The workout was fun.”

Kevin Johnson Texans Jersey caught seven career touchdowns and finished with 88 catches for 1,348 yards from 2011 to 2014. He cited his strengths as doing “everything with 110 percent effort” and making his teammates around him better.

Houston Texans Fall 31-21 to Eagles

The Texans defense picked off Philadelphia three times and knocked out Eagles starting quarterback Nick Foles early in the game but lost 31-21 at home.

“That our defense was able to take the ball away like that and we didn’t do more with it offensively is frustrating,” head coach Bill O’Brien said. “It’s tough. It’s not from a lack of effort, it’s just execution.”

Injuries mounted for both teams. Houston, without Jadeveon Clowney and Brian Cushing, also lost starting cornerbacks Kareem Jackson and Johnathan Joseph. Arian Foster also exited the game in the third quarter. Foster suffered a groin injury, according to O’Brien.

“We’ll see how that is, but obviously the bye week is coming at a good time for things like that,” O’Brien said. “He’s had a heck of a year and we certainly need him down the stretch.”

A.J. Bouye and Jumal Rolle, a first-year corner signed on October 1, stepped in for Joseph and Jackson and forced three turnovers. Bouye nabbed his first-career interception and returned it for a touchdown while Rolle added two picks. Jackson suffered a knee injury and Joseph was evaluated for a concussion.

“That obviously wasn’t planned, but I just try to stay prepared,” Rolle said. “You never know when your number is going to get called. Most importantly, you just want to be ready.”

Foster rushed for 56 yards on 15 carries. He also caught two passes for 63 yards, one of which was a touchdown. DeAndre Hopkins caught six passes for 115 yards and a score. Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 13-of-27 passes for 203 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed for 49 yards on six carries.

“It was a mixture of things to do today, but there were some times where they were blitzing us and getting pressure on us,” Fitzpatrick said. “I’ve got to do a better job of finding the open guy, getting the ball out of my hand, and hurting the blitz more often.”

Whitney Mercilus led the Texans defense with nine tackles and two sacks. Watt had seven tackles and 1.5 sacks.

Foles, who sacked twice by Mercilus in three plays, was x-rayed for a left shoulder injury suffered in the first quarter. Foles was 10-of-13 for 124 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Six-year NFL veteran Mark Sanchez, who took over for Foles, completed 15-of-22 for 202 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Philadelphia linebacker DeMeco Ryans was carted off the field in the fourth quarter after he intercepted Fitzpatrick. He fumbled on the play, though, and Hopkins recovered it.
The Houston defense forced a three-and-out to start the game. After Jackson and Joseph left the game with injuries on Philadelphia’s next possession, Foles wasted no time and found Jeremy Maclin for a 59-yard touchdown pass. The Eagles took an early 7-0 lead with 8:30 remaining in the first quarter.

Sanchez completed 3-of-3 on his first drive, which ended in an 11-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Matthews.

Rolle picked off Sanchez in the second quarter. The Texans offense gained momentum on that series after struggling early in the game. Fitzpatrick threw a 56-yard touchdown pass along the right sideline to Foster. Houston and Philadelphia were tied 14-14 with 3:58 left in the second quarter.

The Texans’ only trip to the red zone in the third quarter ended in a missed field goal from 39 yards.

After four-consecutive rushing plays that moved the ball 70 yards, the Eagles scored on an 8-yard touchdown run by Chris Polk. Houston trailed by its largest margin, 24-14 with 2:40 left in the third quarter.

Rolle picked off Sanchez for the second time early in the fourth quarter. The Texans offense, without Foster, took over with rookie Alfred Blue in at running back. On third-and-6, Fitzpatrick’s 21-yard completion to Hopkins set up a scoring drive for Houston.

Ryan Fitzpatrick connected with Hopkins for a seven-yard touchdown pass to bring the Texans to within three points, down 24-21 with 11:51 left in the fourth quarter.

The Eagles fired back as Maclin scored his second touchdown and the final score of the game. Maclin finished with six catches for 158 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Houston falls to 4-5 on the season, heading into the bye week.

“I think this bye week is coming at a good time and hopefully, we can figure out some things we can do better,” O’Brien said. “It’s a disappointed locker room, but we’ve got a lot of games left, seven games, and a lot of those are at home.”

Cardinals Youth Nike Houston Texans 56 Brian Cushing Elite Away White NFL Jersey seek seek to solve Giants, even NLCS

Plesac and Floyd on the keys to Game 2 of the NLCS

ST. LOUIS — It is up to Lance Lynn to cut the Giants down to size and get the Cardinals even against Jake Peavy tonight in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series at Busch Stadium. The game can be viewed on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET.

Peavy, delighted for another shot at a World Series ring after claiming one with the Red Sox last season, takes the ball from manager Bruce Bochy in the hopes of replicating Madison Bumgarner’s dominant effort in a 3-0 Game 1 victory by San Francisco.

“Lance is fairly young [at 27], but he’s been with the St. Louis Cardinals, he’s been in these situations before,” Peavy said. “With that experience, I’m sure he’s going to give us all we can handle tomorrow night.”

Peavy and Lynn are both coming off quality efforts in the NL Division Series. Peavy shut out the Nationals through 5 2/3 innings for a victory in Game 1 at Washington, while Lynn held the Dodgers to two runs over six innings in a Game 2 loss at Los Angeles.

World Series champions in 2010 and ’12, the Giants are riding a seven-game road winning streak in postseason play and have won 15 of the past 19 on the road during their run of excellence in October.

The Cardinals, World Series champions in 2011, have dropped four consecutive NLCS games to the Giants since surging to a 3-1 lead in the 2012 series.

Peavy, who matured as a star under Giants manager Bruce Bochy when Brian Cushing Jersey they were together with the Padres, quickly took a liking to San Francisco and has been lights out since leaving Boston Brian Cushing Texans Jersey White in a July 26 trade.

The NL Cy Young Award winner in 2007 with Bochy in San Diego, Peavy is 6-4 with a 2.17 ERA in 12 starts with the Giants this year after going 1-9 with a 4.72 ERA with the Red Sox. The righty credits pitching coach Dave Righetti with ironing out a few things in his delivery and catcher Buster Posey for helping him find his groove.

“I got with Dave Righetti, and Rags saw me as a young kid and watched me so many times when I was young and on track, so to speak,” Peavy said. “We tweaked just a few things. It really wasn’t anything major, but it’s made a world of difference.

“Buster Posey is a unique individual and a unique player. When you find the right chemistry and groove with a good player like that, who cares and plays that position, it can take your game to another level. And he can get the most out of you.”

Lynn, who was 15-10 for the second year in a row while shaving his ERA from 3.97 to 2.74, also works with one of the game’s premier receivers in Yadier Molina.

“I’ll still say he’s probably one of the most underrated pitchers in the game with what he’s been able to do,” Cards manager Mike Matheny said of Lynn.

Held to four hits by Bumgarner and two relievers in the opener, the Cards will try to jump-start an offense that exploded in the NLDS against Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers.

“This time of year,” Matheny said, “it comes down to the hot team, and it also comes down to hot hitters.”

Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval — with a double, two singles and a walk — almost matched the Cards’ Game 1 offense by himself. Jon Jay had two of St. Louis’ Brian Cushing Jersey for Sale hits.

After pounding seven homers — three by Matt Carpenter — and six doubles in the Brian Cushing Jersey Nike NLDS against the Dodgers, the Cards did not collect an extra-base hit against Bumgarner, Sergio Romo and Santiago Casilla.

“I’ve been through this lineup, seen more Carpenter at-bats than I probably want to see,” Peavy said. “I’ll see some more before we really nail down the game plan. We’ve watched these guys up and down. They’re a lot like us — a bunch of grinders, a bunch of professional at-bats that [they] are going to have.”

Giants: Sandoval on another roll
Beware of “The Panda.” It is October, and Pablo Sandoval is hungry again for base hits and victories.

Sandoval, who won the 2012 World Series Most Valuable Player Award in the afterglow of his three-homer epic performance in Game 1, appears intent on writing another postseason chapter with his bat. His 3-for-4 night in Game 1 has him hitting .333 through six postseason games.

“Man, [it’s] exciting to be in October,” Sandoval said. “Last year I was home watching the game on TV.”

What’s Panda’s approach this postseason?

“Have fun no matter what the situation, what the score, what the game, the type of game you play,” he said. “So just have fun out there.”

Cardinals: Jay showing the way
With a pair of singles around getting hit by a Bumgarner pitch, Jay did his part to get the Cardinals’ offense rolling in Game 1. Brian Cushing Uniforms The versatile outfielder is on fire in the postseason, with seven hits, all singles, in 13 at-bats.

Jay is picking up where he left off in the regular season, when he batted .303 with a .372 on-base percentage in 140 games. The Cards are looking for the heart of the order — Matt Holliday, Jhonny Peralta, Matt Adams and Yadier Molina — to rebound after going a combined 1-for-15 in the series opener.

“They have had some great wins, some tough losses,” Matheny said of his Redbirds. “They have been very resilient about coming back the next day and getting back to business and taking care of what they can take care of and not trying to win Youth Nike Houston Texans 56 Brian Cushing Elite Away White NFL Jersey two games tomorrow. We’ve got an opportunity to come back and play a better baseball game, and I’m certain that’s what we’ll do.”

Worth noting
• The Giants’ 21-14 record and .600 winning percentage in NLCS play is the best among all NL teams. They have won 12 of their past 13 postseason games, 16 of the past 20 and 26 of 35. Starting with their 2010 run to the World Series title, the Giants are 27-10 in the postseason.
• Molina’s 88 career postseason hits match former teammate Albert Women’s Nike Houston Texans 56 Brian Cushing Elite Away White Captain Patch Jersey Pujols for the most in franchise history. Molina is a .289 Brian Cushing Jersey White career hitter in postseason play, tied for seventh best in franchise history and sixth best among all catchers.
• The Cards dropped a Game 1 in the NLCS at home for the first time since 2002, when they fell to the Giants. St. Louis had prevailed in 2004, ’05 and ’13.

Must C Clinch: Giants advance to face Cards in NLCS

SAN FRANCISCO — Many Giants took a victory lap around the perimeter of AT&T Park’s playing field Tuesday night as they began celebrating their National League Division Series triumph over the Washington Nationals. The players might as well have extended their brief jog into a marathon.

The Giants’ act is a long-running one. Their 3-2 decision in Game 4, which clinched the best-of-five Division Series for them by a 3-1 margin, featured the elements that propelled them to World Series titles in 2010 and ’12. Pitching. Defense. And a certain kind of stubbornness, pride, Garrett Graham Texans Jersey for Sale or both that enables them to believe that while they may encounter better teams, they won’t face better competitors.

With a jam-packed crowd at AT&T Park standing in nervous anticipation, Santiago Casilla sealed the triumph by weathering a two-out walk to Bryce Harper and coaxing Wilson Ramos’ game-ending groundout to second base. The Giants then launched their celebration, cavorting in the middle of the field.

“The guys were relentless,” said Giants manager Bruce Bochy, whose club will confront St. Louis in the NL Championship Series for the second time in three years. “They’re warriors.”

Consider: San Francisco edged into the postseason as the NL’s second Wild Card team, yet it ousted Washington, the league’s winningest team (98-64) during the regular season. Neither team generated much offense in the Division Series, scoring nine runs apiece. But San Francisco’s pitching was just a little more effective, Garrett Graham Jersey limiting the Nationals to a .164 batting average compared to .222 for the Giants.

“The true story is pitching and defense,” said Giants right fielder Hunter Pence, who provided the latter half of that equation with a remarkable leaping catch of Jayson Werth’s sixth-inning drive to the wall. “That’s the foundation of this club.”

Ryan Vogelsong provided the base in this one. A star-crossed figure during the regular season who frequently was victimized by poor run support Mens Nike Houston Texans 88 Garrett Graham Elite Navy Blue Team Color Jersey or an inopportune pitch or two that spoiled an otherwise strong Garrett Graham Jersey Cheap effort, Vogelsong allowed two hits and one run in 5 2/3 innings as his fastball consistently reached 94 mph, exceeding the 91- or 92-mph readings he recorded during the regular season.

Vogelsong hadn’t pitched since Sept. 26. But the break enabled Vogelsong to rest as well as study video of himself to correct mistakes. He said he uncovered a few flaws that, once he corrected them, made him feel much like the 2012 version of himself, when he was the Giants’ leading winner in the postseason (3-0).

The mechanical glitches, Vogelsong said, “were sapping my velocity and the break on my pitches. I spent the last five or six days trying to clean that up and I was able to translate that into the game tonight.”

Vogelsong was excused after yielding one run and two hits in 5 2/3 innings. Werth, the last Garrett Graham Nike Elite Jersey batter Vogelsong confronted, nearly drove Pence through one of the right-field archways. But Pence caught the ball, almost wedging himself in a cutout portion of padding covering the unforgiving brick wall.

Said Posey, “If a defensive play can switch the momentum back in a team’s favor, I think that one did.”

Pence himself said modestly, “I knew that he hit it hard, and I know that our park is big. So I was trying to run back as hard as I could.”

San Francisco’s offense also proved to be more resourceful than Washington’s. Mens Nike Houston Texans 88 Garrett Graham Elite Away White Jersey The Giants scored all of their runs without benefit of a hit.

“We didn’t get the runs we thought we should have, but we created the opportunities,” Bochy said.

In the Giants’ half of the seventh, Joe Panik and Posey launched San Francisco’s go-ahead rally with one-out singles off Nationals reliever Matt Thornton. In came rookie Aaron Barrett, who walked Pence to load the bases.

Barrett’s 2-1 delivery to Pablo Sandoval skipped in the dirt for a wild pitch, scoring Panik. Ordered to walk Sandoval intentionally, Barrett sailed a pitch to the backstop, but catcher Ramos quickly recovered the ball. Ramos’ throw to Barrett, who covered home plate, beat the sliding Posey, and a replay review confirmed there was no violation of the blocking rule.

How sweep it is: Men’s Nike South Carolina Gamecocks Garnet Jadeveon Clowney White Football Jersey Authentic Cruz, Cruz, Norris punch O’s ticket to ALCS

Must C Clinch: Showalter’s bold move pays off for O’s

DETROIT — Amid the champagne spraying and screams of joy on reaching the American League Championship Series, there was a small picture taped along the plastic covering the Orioles’ lockers. The photo needed no words: it was of the jerseys of the last three AL Cy Young Award winners. Tigers jerseys, each crossed off.

What better way to tell the story of how Baltimore magnificently steamrolled Detroit and its vaunted starting rotation over three games in a best-of-five American League Division Series? The simple X said it all. The Orioles, counted out all season and playing without All-Stars Matt Wieters, Manny Machado and Chris Davis, owned every inch of this ALDS: outpitching, outhitting and out-performing Detroit on baseball’s big stage. Sunday’s 2-1 series sweep, which marked the organization’s first since 1971, gave manager Buck Showalter his first career postseason series ‘W’ and highlighted the skipper’s often-unorthodox style.

The ALCS begins Friday, and the Orioles will host Games 1, 2, 6 and 7 against the Royals.

“It means we won an opportunity,” said Showalter, who intentionally walked the go-ahead run in the ninth inning, setting up closer Zach Britton’s game-ending double play. “Some of the guys were talking in there afterwards, you know, I kind of respected that they weren’t over the top. They got a lot to be proud of. It’s a step.

“There are different steps during the season that you have to take, and this is one of ’em. And so hard against a team like Detroit with such a great pedigree and experience, you know, at this. It’s a challenge, and it will continue to be.”

Using the superhuman offense of postseason veteran Nelson Cruz, who hit a decisive two-run sixth-inning homer off David Price, and a fantastic playoff debut from starter Bud Norris, the Orioles held off a late Tigers rally, securing their first ALCS berth since 1997. The O’s, who held the Tigers to four hits Sunday, allowed two runs over the final 13 innings of the ALDS and outscored the Tigers, 21-9, in the sweep.

But how did the O’s pull it off?

“It’s hard to say,” said Tigers ace Max Scherzer, who started Game 1. “They just outplayed us in every facet, really. They’ve got great pitching. Their offense did Jadeveon Clowney Jersey big things. We couldn’t contain Cruz. That’s really what it came down to.”

The Orioles, who lost in the ALDS to the Yankees in 2012, are looking forward to playing in the ALCS.

“I feel like we have a little bit more experience than we did in 2012,” shortstop J.J. Hardy said of Baltimore’s ability to bear down and outdistance Detroit. “That could have paid off a lot. I felt like we were relaxed. We had to be. We went out there and played well, and I think it helped being the underdogs.”

After all, these O’s have proved doubters wrong all season. Some suggested they couldn’t win after Wieters’ season-ending injury and it was impossible after Machado went down. Davis’ suspension? Surely it spelled the end of the journey for the O’s, who were viewed by many as the underdog Jadeveon Clowney South Carolina Gamecocks Jersey in the ALDS despite being the higher seed.

“It just shows you Jadeveon Clowney Jersey for Sale what kind of ballclub we have here and the guys we have in this clubhouse,” said right fielder Nick Markakis. “It’s easy to throw 25 guys on the team, but to get 25 guys on the same page, to play well together and become family is different. They’ve Men’s Nike South Carolina Gamecocks Garnet Jadeveon Clowney White Football Jersey Authentic done that here, and it’s been awesome.”

“I think we thought of it as a challenge, three Cy Young Award winners throwing against us,” Britton said of an Orioles team that also faced Scherzer and Justin Verlander. “Price was outstanding. We pitched a little bit better, and that’s what it kind of comes down to. No one gave us that much of a shot, but to come in three games and Men’s Nike South Carolina Gamecocks Garnet Jadeveon Clowney Authentic Black Football Jersey handle their lineup the way we did is impressive.”

Equally impressive was Cruz, who again showed why he’s perhaps baseball’s shrewdest free-agent signing. Inked to a one-year deal late in Spring Training, Cruz gave Baltimore the decisive blow off Price, sending a 1-1 changeup into the right-field seats to also score Jones.

“I think God blessed with me the opportunity to be a part of this organization,” said Cruz, who has fit in seamlessly with his new teammates. “We don’t care what outsiders or somebody said. What we care about is that we believe in each other and we trust what we have here.”

In nine postseason games against the Tigers split between the Rangers and Orioles, Cruz has 18 RBIs and 16 homers, which ties him with Carlos Beltran for ninth on baseball’s all-time postseason list. Cruz’s blast was all the Orioles would get off Price over eight innings, and all the O’s standout pitching staff needed.

Norris set the tone early, silencing the sold-out crowd of 43,013 at Comerica Park with 6 1/3 scoreless innings. The fantastic 100-pitch outing, which featured six strikeouts and two walks, saw Detroit not record a hit off Norris after Don Kelly’s third-inning single.

“Again, of course, Bud was the difference,” Showalter said. “Runs were going to be at such a premium. Really happy for Bud, because he’s a guy that just because someone hasn’t had the opportunity to do something before, doesn’t mean they can’t do it.”

Norris was replaced after a one-out walk to Nick Castellanos, with lefty Andrew Miller recording the next five outs before Britton took over.

The sinkerballer allowed a leadoff double from Victor Martinez that left fielder David Lough dove and missed, allowing the ball to scoot by him for an easy two-base hit. J.D. Martinez doubled him in to close the lead to one. After striking out Bryan Holaday, Showalter called for Britton to intentionally walk Castellanos, putting the go-ahead run on base. The move worked out, with Hernan Perez grounding into a double play to seal the win.

“When you put on the winning run with a free pass, that takes a lot of guts to do that,” said executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette. “It showed that Buck was playing to win the game.”

Royals sweep their Whitney Mercilus Shirts way way to ALCS date with O’s

LAA@KC Gm3: Royals complete sweep, advance to ALCS

KANSAS CITY — Color Kansas City blue. Royal blue. Folks could paint the town — not red, but blue — to celebrate the biggest baseball boom in nearly three decades after their Royals swept the American League Division Series from the Angels in three games.

The Royals eliminated the Angels, 8-3, to the immense delight of the 40,657 full-throated fans at Kauffman Stadium and an entire Missouri-Kansas community on Sunday night. Now they will take on the Orioles in the best-of-seven AL Championship Series starting on Friday night at Baltimore.

Cowtown hasn’t seen such excitement over the ol’ cowhide ball since 1985, the year the Royals beat the Cardinals in the World Series. Now they’re one step away from another Fall Classic.

“I’m more happy for the fans than anyone else, because they waited a long time to get to this point,” owner David Glass said, drenched in champagne in the clubhouse celebration. “But listen, we’re not at the end. We’re at the beginning of something Whitney Mercilus Jersey Cheap that could be really good.”

The Royals wiped out the Angels with Alex Gordon’s three-run double, homers by Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas, three hits from Nori Aoki and assorted other contributors.

James Shields worked the first six innings, giving up two runs on solo homers by Mike Trout and Albert Pujols. The bullpen did the rest.

Kelvin Herrera came back from an arm ailment throwing 101 mph and pitched a perfect seventh. Wade Davis gave up one run in the eighth, then shut things down. Greg Holland worked a 1-2-3 ninth, and the party was on.

“This is exciting. I think we’re all kind of in shock that it went three games like that,” Whitney Mercilus Shirts Davis said. “I am. I expected it to be a pretty tough series, and it was — the first two games went extra innings.”

Not this one, though.

When Trout broke his utter silence in the series with his homer in the first inning, you might have Whitney Mercilus Texans Jersey thought you could have heard a pin drop. You would have thought wrong. There was no silencing this Cowtown posse, brandishing their blue and white towels.

One solo home run — nothing. Or so it seemed after the Royals completed their half of the first inning.

Not only did Gordon pound a three-run double to the wall in left-center, he knocked out Angels starter C.J. Wilson in the process. Yes, Wilson, who had never lost to the Royals in his career, was dismissed forthwith by manager Mike Scioscia.

Wilson got in trouble by giving up one-out singles to Aoki and Lorenzo Cain, which, of course, raised the pulse rates of the bluebloods in the stands. Hosmer was called out on a third strike that he viewed dubiously, then Billy Butler walked on four straight pitches. Gordon crashed a 2-2 slider into the gap, and all three runners scampered madly, including Men’s Nike Houston Texans 59 Whitney Mercilus 10th Anniversary Elite Battle Red Alternate Jersey the not-so-speedy Butler, who slid dramatically across home plate just ahead of the throw.

“Trout hit that home run, and it was good for us to respond like we did,” Gordon said. “Good job by the guys getting on base and making something happen and putting me in a good situation.”

That set the tone for the evening.

By that point, Kauffman Stadium was rocking, and the roar surely could be heard from Lake Jacomo down to the Plaza. Butler and the boys pumped fists and made their merry way to the dugout.

“We love each other in here, and we’re playing like it, too,” Butler said.

The Angels began a parade of eight pitchers, but the Royals just kept going.

Left-hander Hector Santiago was on the mound when Aoki started the Royals’ third with a walk. After an out, up came Hosmer, the home-run hero of Game 2. In came a 2-0 fastball, and out it went in a 418-foot journey just shy of the waterfall deep into the stands in left-center. The home run made it 5-1.

Now the Royals were really feeling spunky. Butler walked and stole — yes, stole — second base on lefty Santiago and kicked away the ball as he slid into the bag. That didn’t result in more scoring, but the sight of Men’s Nike Houston Texans 59 Whitney Mercilus Elite Navy Blue Team Color Jersey big Billy imitating Jarrod Dyson, his longtime pinch-runner, certainly entertained the throng. After all, Butler hadn’t pilfered a sack since July 5, 2012.

“It’s the first time I’ve had the green light,” Butler said, smiling.

Just to settle things down a bit, Pujols — a product of Kansas City schools and ballyards — opened the Angels’ fourth with a home run into the left-field seats.

In a Whitney Mercilus Jersey retaliatory strike, Moustakas, the homer hero of Game 1, launched his own shot off reliever Mike Morin over the right-field bullpen. More pandemonium.

“It’s an unbelievable atmosphere,” Shields said. “This is a special time in this city right now, and they’re enjoying this as much as we are.”

Shields got some help from the defense, which was already spectacularly on display in this series. Cain put on a one-man show with two on and one out in the fifth with two diving catches — first on Pujols and then on Howie Kendrick.

If those liners had fallen in?

“I think it’s a whole new ballgame, I think it is,” Scioscia said. “You’re probably looking at a one- or two-run game if both those hits drop in, but they didn’t.”

Rain tried to dampen things. Drops fell briefly in the fifth inning, then returned in a heavier form in the bottom of the seventh. But Mother Nature gave up; she couldn’t stop the Royals, either. They were headed for a champagne shower.

“The momentum is through the roof right now,” Cain said. “We’re having a blast.”

Tigers on wrong Men’s Nike Houston Texans 10 DeAndre Hopkins Elite Battle Red Alternate Jersey end end of rout; magic number 1

MIN@DET: Ausmus on Tigers’ 12-3 loss to Twins

DETROIT — The American League Central is coming down to the last scheduled day of the regular season. A spot for the Tigers in the AL Division Series, however, essentially comes down to their ability to win one out of their next three potential games, involving three opponents, all at Comerica Park.

The Central-leading Tigers are hoping it doesn’t come down to that, either a division tiebreaker on Monday against the second-place Royals, who trail by one game, or the AL Wild Card Game on Tuesday. With a magic number of one over Kansas City, the Tigers can clinch a fourth straight division title on Sunday afternoon if they can beat the Twins with David Price on the mound. After Saturday’s 12-3 loss at home DeAndre Hopkins Football Uniforms to Minnesota cost the Tigers a chance to clinch, though, it’s getting repetitive for them, even.

Detroit has lost back-to-back games by a combined 23-7 margin to a team 17 games behind it in the division standings and with little more than a 70-win season on the line.

“If it was Aug. 1, it would feel great,” Twins manager Ron Gardenhire quipped about reaching the 70-win mark.

If the Tigers were a win away from clinching with a week to go, their feelings would be different, too. They haven’t lacked urgency, but they’ve lacked clean play at times.

“It’s frustrating, for sure,” manager Brad Ausmus said. “Today was almost a carbon copy of yesterday. A couple of defensive mistakes, we didn’t pitch well and you’re in such a deep hole that it’s tough to climb out of.”

“I wasn’t concerned at all going into the game today that something like that would happen again. I’m a little surprised by it, but again, we can’t do anything about it. We’ve got a game tomorrow that we’ve gotta win — and I mean, DeAndre Hopkins Shirts we’ve gotta win.”

The Tigers want the division title, and not just for the banner. A win on Sunday would allow them three days to rest and recuperate — especially important to outfielder Rajai Davis, who left Saturday’s game in the second inning with a pelvic sprain. It would also allow Ausmus to line up his rotation, DeAndre Hopkins Houston Texans Jersey for Sale for the most part, in one of several ways.

Saturday’s loss means Ausmus has to use Price on Sunday instead of lining him up for the postseason rotation. A loss on Sunday would force Ausmus to use Justin Verlander, another former AL Cy Young Award winner. Max Scherzer, who claimed last year’s AL Cy Young Award, looms for Tuesday’s start.

Saturday’s losing pitcher, Kyle Lobstein, has no such hardware. For four-plus innings, however, he gave the Tigers a chance before ground balls and bloopers doomed him in a six-run Men’s Nike Houston Texans 10 DeAndre Hopkins Elite Battle Red Alternate Jersey fifth inning.

It was a cruel fate for a 25-year-old left-hander who had become the unlikely hero of the Tigers’ rotation.

“I felt like I had the same stuff, same pitches,” Lobstein said. “I kept making good pitches in the fifth inning, too. Unfortunately, they got some hits.”

Lobstein took the mound for the fifth inning on DeAndre Hopkins Jersey Texans a roll, limiting the Twins to two hits and a walk while allowing just three balls to be hit out of the infield. He induced another weak grounder to leadoff batter Eduardo Escobar. The bouncer gave Escobar enough time to beat Nick Castellanos’ throw to first, however, setting up Lobstein’s undoing.

“He looked good up until that point,” Ausmus said, “and then it all came unglued. Everything they hit seemed to find a place to land, and they kept pushing runners across the plate. It was just one of those nights for him. First four innings, he was clean. I don’t know what — I couldn’t tell you exactly what happened.”

Chris Herrmann’s blooper to center fell in front of Davis’ replacement, Ezequiel Carrera, who did not seem to get a good read on the ball. Carrera regrouped to catch Aaron Hicks’ liner, but Danny Santana’s grounder to first caught Miguel Cabrera between trying for the out at second or tossing behind himself to Lobstein racing for first.

With the bases loaded, Brian Dozier sent a ground ball through the right side, just out of the reach of second baseman Ian Kinsler, to tie the game at 1. Kinsler then robbed Joe Mauer of a single with DeAndre Hopkins Jersey a diving stop for the second out, but Herrmann scored to put the Twins up for good.

The killer runs, however, came on an Eric Fryer line drive that carried just over Kinsler’s outstretched glove on a leaping attempt. Two runs scored, and Lobstein left. Three consecutive singles off Phil Coke left Lobstein saddled with six runs on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings.

Six more runs came home against the bullpen, including a four-run eighth off Robbie Ray.

“I understand why they’re booing,” Ausmus said of the crowd’s reaction. “We’re in a situation where we can clinch a division, and we give up 20-something runs over the course of two games. If I was sitting in the stands, I’d be booing, too.”

Ricky Nolasco (6-12) tossed six innings of two-run ball for the win, holding down Detroit’s offense for the second time in as many weeks.

A’s fall short vs. Rangers in bid to clinch WC Brooks Reed Merchandise spot spot

ARLINGTON — With just one regular-season game to play, a spot in the American League Wild Card Game still eludes the A’s, whose magic number remained 1 following a 5-4 loss to the Rangers at Globe Life Park on Saturday evening.

There the A’s sat afterward, still in game-worn clothing, gathered past midnight CT around the television willing the Mariners to lose to the Angels, as that would’ve clinched it for the A’s, who roared in sheer relief when Seattle loaded the bases in the ninth with none out in a tie game and failed to score. Alas, the Mariners pulled Braxton Miller Jersey through against the Angels in the 11th, leaving the A’s to fend for themselves come Sunday behind Sonny Gray.

Considering they put themselves in this position, it’s rather fitting that they will have to handle business on their own.

“For sure,” said 14-year veteran Adam Dunn, vying for his first postseason appearance. “I think that’s the way I think everyone would want it.”

Just months ago, the A’s were considered a postseason lock, and for good reason, with baseball’s best record mounted on their shoulders for weeks. Now, they may have to go through a potential Game 163 just to get there. Braxton Miller Texans Jersey For that to happen, they would have to lose Sunday and the Mariners, starting ace Felix Hernandez, would need to Brooks Reed Texans Shirts pull out another victory against the Halos.

“I’ll tell you what, you just gotta be extremely fortunate to have the opportunity,” said Jonny Gomes. “That’s half the battle, is having the opportunity. You just gotta capitalize on that. We have the opportunity tomorrow. Destiny is in our hands. We don’t scoreboard watch. It’s on us.”

The A’s could’ve taken matters into their own hands much sooner, though, and liked their chances to do so Saturday after tough lefty Derek Holland was scratched less than an hour before game time because of a migraine headache. But they managed just two runs off fill-in Scott Baker, and Jeff Samardzija, who had not allowed an earned run in his previous 23 innings, coughed up five in his first loss since Sept. 5.

Now there’s a chance Holland will start Sunday if he’s Men’s Nike Houston Texans 58 Brooks Reed Elite Navy Blue Team Color Jersey feeling better.

“We were pumped despite Baker having great numbers against us,” said Josh Reddick. “We Women’s Nike Houston Texans 13 Braxton Miller Elite Alternate Battle Red Jersey were excited. I was really pumped. We all knew he had a short leash if he got in trouble, but got to give him credit, he pitched a great game, he did his job on short notice. Things didn’t work out for us. We have to come ready tomorrow.”

Samardzija allowed two home runs, and eight hits total, in seven innings of work, wiping away a 1-0 lead gained on Josh Donaldson’s first-inning homer by surrendering back-to-back RBI hits to Rougned Odor and Adrian Beltre in the bottom half of the inning.

Jake Smolinski’s one-out solo homer in the fourth extended Texas’ lead, and though the A’s plated a run in the fifth, the Rangers distanced themselves again via the long ball in the seventh, this one a two-out, two-run shot to Robinson Chirinos.

The A’s staged a comeback in the eighth but fell one run short, getting back-to-back RBI singles from Reddick and Jed Lowrie with two outs. Alberto Callaspo’s ensuing fly ball appeared to be headed out, but fell just short at the warning track in right field, denying the A’s a lead and a chance to wipe away their magic number.

“It’s beyond frustrating,” said Reddick. “I think words can’t describe it. We climb back, climb Men’s Nike Houston Texans 13 Braxton Miller Elite Navy Blue Team Color NFL Jersey back and right when we get there, we can’t get that one big hit we need. We all thought Callo got it with that hit, and just our luck, a ball goes to the wall that is going to put us up by two, and Brooks Reed Women’s Jersey same old story it seems like, very frustrating and beyond it.”

“The lineup battled today,” said Samardzija. “They did a great job, did everything they needed to do. I’d just really like to have a shutdown inning in the seventh and get our guys back in there with a one-run deficit, and we’re probably looking at a different outcome right now.”

Oakland’s loss also ceded home-field advantage in the Wild Card Game to either Kansas City or Detroit, whichever club doesn’t win the AL Central. That’s the least of the A’s worry at the moment.

“We know where we stand, hold our own destiny, so hopefully we come out tomorrow and get it done,” said Dunn.

KC Women’s Nike Houston Texans 99 J.J. Watt Limited Black Impact Jersey tied tied for top AL Wild Card, one back in Central

KC@CLE: Infante opens scoring with two-run double

CLEVELAND — Loud and raucous as usual, the Royals’ celebration of a 7-1 victory over the Indians was behind them and they settled in to watch on television as the Tigers tried to keep their claws on first place.

Going off the field on Tuesday night, manager Ned Yost had glanced at the scoreboard and saw that the White Sox had scored two in the ninth inning at Detroit. Once he reached his office, he didn’t need anyone to tell him that Chicago tied things up.

“As I was sitting in here, I heard a major eruption [in the clubhouse], so I figured something happened,” Yost said.

The TV sets, though, soon showed a disappointing end as Detroit rallied to win and kept a one-game lead over Kansas City in its battle for the American League Central title. Time is running out, as there are just five games to go.

Although they are one game back of the Tigers, the Royals are now tied for the top AL Wild Card spot with the A’s, who lost, 2-0, to the Angels.

The Royals kept the heat on with rookie Yordano Ventura pitching masterfully for seven shutout innings and the offense springing to life with an attack that featured six doubles.

Yost was informed that with the Mariners losing again, the Royals’ magic number for a postseason berth J.J.Watt Red Women’s Jersey was down to three.

“Is that the magic number for the Wild Card?” he said. “Well, I’m not really interested in the Wild Card right now. So that number really doesn’t mean that much to me. The Wild Card has always been Plan B. We’re in good shape right now and I’m glad that it’s three, but our focus is on winning this division.”

Yost was managing his 770th Royals game, matching Dick Howser’s club record, and his team’s 86th victory matched its total of last season.

The last two seasons under Yost have marked Kansas City’s best back-to-back seasons since Whitey Herzog got 85 wins in 1979 and Jim Frey notched 97 in 1980.

“I’m excited about that a little bit. We’re making progress,” Yost said.

How much progress would it be if his club became the first Royals team to make the postseason J.J.Watt Women’s Jersey Cheap in 29 years? Can they see the finish line?

“You can’t let yourself see it,” cautioned Billy Butler. “We’ve got to come out tomorrow and take on Trevor Bauer and just go pitch to pitch. We just can’t get too far ahead of ourselves.”

It was Danny Salazar that Butler and the Royals roughed up on Tuesday night, even though the Indians’ right-hander racked up six strikeouts in the first two innings.

“Salazar that first time through was pretty unbelievable. I think his first six outs were all punchouts,” Butler said. “He had his split working. You’ve got to get him early in the count because you don’t want him to get to his strikeout pitch. That split was diving pretty good.”

So, putting their heads together in the dugout, the J.J.Watt Women’s Shirts Royals resolved to be more Women’s Nike Houston Texans 99 J.J. Watt Limited Black Impact Jersey aggressive. They couldn’t allow Salazar to get two strikes and then use that off-the-table splitter.

Omar Infante got them going with a two-run double in the fourth inning. Eric Hosmer, Butler and Salvador Perez all whacked doubles to produce a three-run fifth, and by the time the inning was over, Salazar was gone.

Later, facing reliever Scott Atchison, Alex Gordon delivered a two-run double. The middle of the lineup was powering up. <p< a=”” all=”” firing=”” hosmer=”” it.=”” of=”” on=”” p=”” re=”” s=”” said.=”” shown=”” signs=”” team=”” to=”” tough=”” ve=”” when=””> Meantime, Ventura worked seven scoreless innings, giving up four singles and four walks with six strikeouts. After he ran up a career-high 117 pitches doing it, Yost decided that was enough.

“He threw a lot of pitches, but he goes in spurts. It’s kind of crazy,” Yost said. “He’ll get two quick outs, then he gets in trouble. … But he’s got enough stuff and composure and competitiveness to J.J.Watt Women’s Football Uniforms overcome it.”

Sure enough, Ventura retired the first two batters in the seventh and then the Indians loaded bases on a walk and singles by Mike Aviles and Michael Bourn. Ventura admitted he and his catcher, Perez, had J.J.Watt Women’s Jersey to do a little politicking to finish out the inning.

“Yeah, a little bit,” Ventura said. “Salvy and I expressed confidence that we could get the last out and we were able to do it.”

Good thing that he struck out Jose Ramirez or he was gone.

“That was his last hitter,” Yost said.

The Indians broke up the shutout in the eighth inning with an unearned run against left-hander Scott Downs. Jason Frasor finished up with a perfect ninth, so the Royals were able to rest the backend of their bullpen — Kelvin Herrera, Wade Davis and Greg Holland.

The most encouraging sign, though, was the productive hitting.

“I think we’re in a good spot,” Butler said. “I think we’re starting to click at the right time.”

Lackey puts Brian Cushing 10th Anniversary Jersey Cards Cards close to postseason berth

CIN@STL: Lackey fans five over 7 2/3 dominant innings

ST. LOUIS — Whether John Lackey wanted the schedule change or not (and his postgame comments suggested that he most certainly did not), the Cardinals’ decision to include a few extra days of rest before his first post-ejection start offered a huge payoff at a critical time on Friday.

Boosted by back-to-back homers in the first inning, Lackey, with the defensive aid of Jon Jay, dominated a Reds team that had pestered him his last time out. With his best start as a Cardinal, Lackey pitched the Cards closer to a postseason berth with a 2-1 win in front of the season’s 50th sellout at Busch Stadium. The team’s 30th one-run win was closed by committee, as four different relievers combined to record the final four outs.

Coupled with the Brewers’ loss in Pittsburgh on Friday, the Cardinals positioned themselves for a possible clinch on Saturday. Their magic number for a division title sits at seven, but a repeat of Friday’s result on Saturday — a Cardinals win and a Brewers loss — would ensure St. Louis of at least a Wild Card bid.

“We win a lot of close, low-scoring games,” Lackey said afterward. “I think there is definitely a skill in winning tight games, and I think this team has Brian Cushing Jersey it. That’s kind of the way playoff games end up. We’re going to have plenty of experience with that if we get there.”

The win was on the precipice of dissolving in the ninth when closer Trevor Rosenthal, pitching for the fifth time in seven games, let two of the first three batters reach. It was a mess manager Mike Matheny chose not to let the young closer get himself out of. Lefty specialist Randy Choate entered to pitch in just the spot he was signed for, and he stepped up with a strikeout of Jay Bruce. Seth Maness secured the third Women’s Nike Houston Texans 56 Brian Cushing Elite Away White Captain Patch Jersey out.

“Choate and Seth did an amazing job of coming in and getting those two outs,” Rosenthal said.

The Cardinals’ offense came quickly and compactly, as outfielders Randal Grichuk and Matt Holliday blasted homers off Reds starter David Holmberg in a span of four pitches. Grichuk, in the lineup because of his numbers against lefties, improved to 9-for-27 off them since returning from the Minors last month.

With his homer, Holliday now sits one shy of securing the ninth straight 20-homer Brian Cushing Apparel season of his career. The back-to-back blasts were the second of the season for the Cardinals, with the others coming on July 5 when Allen Craig and Jhonny Peralta went deep against the Marlins.

“I tried to get in on Grichuk and left it over the plate. He took advantage of it,” Holmberg said. “I left a changeup high enough for Holliday to get to it.”

Holmberg wouldn’t make any additional mistakes, though the Cardinals didn’t need them, as Lackey was pitching with something to prove. Less than thrilled about appearing three days later than expected, Lackey wanted to prove himself the big-game pitcher that the Cardinals thought they had acquired Brian Cushing Uniforms in July.

He also wanted to showcase why he intends to figure prominently in the organization’s October plans.

“I’ve got plenty of edge,” Lackey said, “but there might have been extra tonight.”

Starting the opener of the team’s final regular-season home series and feeling refreshed after throwing only two innings over the last 13 days, Lackey had merely one hold-your-breath inning. That came in the second, Brian Cushing Texans Jersey White and Jay helped snuff it out with a leaping catch at the wall to rob Ryan Ludwick of an extra-base hit with two on.

Jay would cheat Ludwick out of another hit in his next at-bat, too, with a basket catch as he leaped backward into the wall.

“You just want to contribute, especially at this time of year when every win is so important,” Jay said. “I was happy I was able to contribute out there.”

Lackey did allow an RBI single to Zack Cozart immediately after Jay’s first web gem, but Brian Cushing Jersey Nike that momentum was squelched when Cozart was thrown out trying to advance an extra base on Grichuk’s throw home. Reds manager Bryan Price challenged the call, but it would stand after replay review.

That ended the inning and the final threat of the night against Lackey. The Reds mustered three singles the rest of the way against the right-hander, who was removed with two outs in the eighth after allowing the last of those hits. Lefty reliever Sam Freeman closed out the inning for him with an assist from second baseman Pete Kozma, whose quick change-of-direction diving stop was enough to keep pinch-hitter Kris Negron from tallying a hit and the speedy Billy Hamilton from heading to third.

“That’s a big play, a tough play to change direction like he did,” Matheny said. “He’s very athletic. You Youth Nike Houston Texans 56 Brian Cushing Elite Away White NFL Jersey have Hamilton on base at that point, too, so who knows what is going to happen.”

With the quality start, Lackey extended the rotation’s run of starts Brian Cushing Jersey White with one or fewer earned runs allowed to eight.

“The ball was coming out better,” said Lackey, who had allowed eight runs over his previous two starts (eight innings). “When you don’t have to manufacture effort, it’s easier to locate. I was locating the ball better tonight.”
